WENTWORTH PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Held in the Mechanics Institute Wentworth

On Monday 16th March 2009 at 6.20pm

2134. The minutes of the meeting held on 16th February were accepted as a true record and were authorised to be signed by the Chairman

2135. It was noted that the crash barrier near Occupation Road has been repaired. The date of the inquest into the fatalities in 2008 has been set during May.

Matters Arising

2136. The rent review for the Wentworth playing field has been reviewed and proposed at £600 per annum. The review was accepted by the parish council

2137. There has been a shooting incident in Wentworth, air pellets have been fired at windows and cars from a vehicle passing through the village, the police are said to be taking the incident seriously.

Councillor Dickerson joined the meeting at 6.35pm

2138. Mr Reader noted that a couple of PCSOs have left and that it is a struggle to cover all areas and that the police mountain bikes may be needed in other areas.

2139. Members noted that Kirby Lane looked free of litter and rubbish, but that a litter pick had been requested. It was noted that the area further along the road towards Barley Hole is the problem. It was also noted that Mill Lane is again being subjected to fly tipping and general littering, particularly around the gates of the sewerage plant. Clerk to report to RMBC, also the fact that fly tipping is occurring along Burying Lane

2140. It was noted that the post box in Nether Haugh had been sealed, but is now in use again.

2141. The phone box in Wentworth has now been repaired.

2142. It appeared that the final work on the Wentworth street lighting scheme is still to be completed.

2144. It was noted that the WREN funding for the Harley play scheme has been received and that the memorial tree has been planted. Clerk to chase invoice for the repairs to the Nether Haugh bus shelter

2145. Mr Morley advised the meeting that the YRCC audit on the parish plan expenditure had been completed and that YRCC had released the remaining £250 of contingency funding.

2148. Parish plan responsibilities and actions are to be discussed at the next meeting, clerk to add to agenda and invite Mr Barber-Lomax and WVCA.

Ms K Sykes joined the meeting at 7pm

2149. The proposed adjustment to the timing of the 44 bus service cannot be done as the vehicle doubles as another service in between the 44 services. Further to this, the proposed extension of the 92 service cannot be undertaken, the service provider is willing to alter the route, but there is no further funding available from SYPTE

2150. The Harley speed sign is still not working, clerk to chase RMBC

2151. Ms Reader advised the meeting that the provision of community skips for the area will not be funded by RMBC this year

Police Matters

2152. A prowler in the Wentworth area has been reported, but no one was found, patrols have been made since this report and the incident with the air rifle. Police have also been present late at night after being on other operations. Members asked if patrols could incorporate the area around the school as there seems to be an issue with cars parking late at night.

2153. Reported crime in the area is down, but antisocial behaviour incidents increased by 33% , mainly due to incidents with snowballs during the recent bad weather. It was noted that the police web site has been updated with details of the forthcoming PACT meetings and that officers now spend more time on patrol as Blackberry technology has been introduced .

Open Forum

2154. The parish newsletter has been published and will be circulated over the next few weeks.

2155. The devolved budget funding for the Harley village hall has passed the second stage of application.

2131. The next meeting was confirmed as the 20th April 2009 at 6.30pm at the Mechanic's Institute. Agenda to be distributed.
