WENTWORTH PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Held in the Mechanics Institute Wentworth

2513. Minutes

The minutes of the meeting held on 15th March 2010 were accepted as a true record and were authorised to be signed by the Chairman

Matters Arising</P>

2514. Wentworth Estates have proposed a rent review for the Harley playing field at , a 100% increase. Councillors were dismayed at the proposed increase on what is a social asset. Members proposed that an offer of a two stage increase, the second increase in 2015, of per stage be offered.

2515. The BT kiosk adoption is near completion and it is expected that the telephone will be removed shortly. A lock is to be fitted, clerk to contact the blacksmith.

2516. RMBC have responded to the questions raised be members regarding local provision of grit bins. Members commented that the concerns raised have not been properly addressed by the response. Members are to consider 6 locations for new grit bins. RMBC are to provide a gritting route map, the new locations to be considered in conjunction with the existing gritting schedules.

Councillor Hales joined the meeting at 6.50pm

2517. A planning application has been received for the Garden Centre, it is to link the new restaurant the original building, no objections were raised.

2518. The working party formed to try and alleviate the parking problems in Harley is to hold its first meeting later in the week. Land ownership details for various pockets of land have been verified. Matter to be added to future agendas.

Casual Vacancy

2519. RMBC have confirmed that no election has been requested and the parish council is free to co-opt a member to fill the casual vacancy. One application has been received and it was proposed the applicant be co-opted to the parish council. Clerk to issue invite to the May meeting.

2521. It was noted the insurance premium had been received and that Aon had now taken over the business of Allianz.

Councillor Woodcock declared an interest in the following item and left the meeting at 7.06pm

Property

2522. A property inspection has recently been carried out and several items have been noted for attention. A report was circulated to members, several quotes for various work have been received and more have been requested. Members asked that the tenancy agreement be checked for the maintenance of internal fences.

2523. It was noted that the planter in the car park has been damaged, clerk to arrange repair

2526. Members asked if a plastic recycling facility could be included in the Main Street recycling centre

Proactive Councilling

2527. It was noted that there is to be a short ceremony to unveil the memorial plaque to Councillor Hardwick on May 10th, time to be confirmed.

2528. The newsletter has been printed and is to be circulated over the next couple of weeks

2529. It was noted that residents of Kirby Lane are regularly picking up litter and removing any fly posters.

2530. It was noted that Wentworth Estate is patching up the pot holes along Church Drive, matter to be added to May's agenda.

2531. Mrs Shaw reported that there have been two accidents on the A6135 over the past month, the coroner has been notified. The crash barrier has been repaired, but not extended as the coroner advised. The group has been on the front pages of the local press several times in the past few weeks and it was noted that there have been 10 accidents since the inquest. It is thought that the police are gathering further information about traffic along the road.

2532. The price of the security initiative is being discussed, it is thought a further discount may be available. A leaflet has been devised to leave with the households concerned.

Open Forum

2533. Councillor Stevenson had asked if the undergrowth around the cricket pavilion could be attended to and if the accident debris left on Cortworth Lane could be removed.

2534. Councillor Hunton asked that a private day meeting be arranged with RMBC to discuss traffic issues, including the parking problems along Main Street.

2535. It was noted that RMBC have evoked a rule about markets within a certain area of Rotherham, they have used this to prevent a craft fair in the Mechanic's Institute during the May bank holiday weekend. The fair was to have included a display of children's art. Further information is to be obtained about the ruling, it is also believed that a November event in Rotherham Minster has been stopped as it also clashes with an RMBC event.

2536. A letter to be issued to RMBC regarding the broken stiles along footpath 15.

2537. A further car park ticket machine is to be made available by RMBC for the Bistro end of the car park should the parish council wish to use it. Confirmation of any costs to be obtained.

2538. The pavement at Hoodhill, near the bends, is overgrown, matter to be reported to RMBC

2539. The next meeting was confirmed as the AGM on the 17th April 2010 at 6.30pm at the Mechanic's Institute. Agenda to be distributed.
